The Stardust WrenEarly in the 18th century, fantastic machines were invented which promised to solve all of life's problems. Early in the 19th century, these machines had created a cloud of pollution so large and so thick that only the highest 10% of the planet's surface was inhabitable. Early in the 20th century, the plateau-city of Agase has a population of about 300,000, and, as far as anyone knows, this is also the population of the planet.
Technology largely had to start from square one when the planet was wrecked, and the loss of communications technology combined with great distances between inhabitable land meant that whatever communities survived became completely isolated from one another. Agase is a large metropolis which has begun building airships and sending out expeditions in order to find more inhabitable land and other survivors, as well as to remap the altered surface of the planet.
The crew of The Stardust Wren is about to embark on one of these expeditions.

Aurélie, straightening her short, turqoise hair with her left hand, pulls her flight goggles onto her forehead with her right. Looking in the mirror, she scrutinizingly examines every millimeter of her appearance. She is confident that she will make the right impression on her crew. She doesn't care that she's been criticized for her age and inexperience; she overcame all that. She's now the captain of the HMS Woolwich.
Ha. HMS Woolwich? Not anymore.
The Stardust Wren is her ship.
She smiles a little as she readies herself in her quarters, unable to contain her excitement. After moving in her possessions, she spent the night sleeping in the docked aircraft. Now that the morning has come, she prepares herself to meet the people she will be spending the coming months with. They will live together, work together, fight together, and, if they fail, they will die together. Not that Aurélie's has reason to worry about it; she doesn't fail, end of story!
She places her tricorne atop her head, straightens her skirt, and buttons her coat. Lastly, she lifts Sorcel from her bed and slides it into her belt holster. Uriel Edinburgh once possessed a set of Lemurian ceremonial blades, each representing one of the eight elements. Finding that the lingering power of the blades resonated well with his own magical essence, Uriel had the knives melted down and reforged into three caplock firearms. Two of these he carries himself to this day, while the other has been passed to his daughter. Having inherited his arcane gifts, she formed a immediate bond with the rune-carved handgun.
As she steps down from the airship, she finds the massive Trevia-1 Hangar already bustling with activity. Hers is only the third airship to depart, following the HMS Elthorne and the HMS Bexleyheath which left Agase three and two weeks earlier. Today's departure is every bit as vital to the city's people as the two before it, and the Agase Air Navy is working hard to ensure enough safe takeoff. She spies her father, who is the Air Navy's admiral, across the hangar reassuring the city's mayor of her readiness. She is about to stomp over and assure him herself when she is approached by someone from her crew...
{{OOC: One or both of you can jump in here. We'll do some brief introductions, then cut to the departure itself and the start of the real adventure.
Again, I'm quite sorry that this took a little while to get rolling. I am looking forward to this RP more than ever! I hope that it will be fun for each of us and enjoy a long lifespan here at SC2!}}}
